Oxford native Shawn Knight notched his third Super Late Model victory of the season in impressive fashion Saturday night in Oxford’s weekly Championship Series program. Knight drove inside of third-generation pilot Gunnar Rowe coming through Turns 3 and 4 at the end of lap 28 and pulled away for top honors.

Rowe, who has led the feature two consecutive weeks and is on the verge of that first breakout victory, settled for second, while New Hampshire-based racer Mark Lundblad Jr. made a late-race charge past Vanna Brackett to claim third. Brackett and former American-Canadian Tour (ACT) champion Wayne Helliwell Jr. completed the top five.

In the support classes, Calvin Rose Jr. survived to prevail in what was easily the wildest Street Stock feature run thus far in 2015. On a night when tempers flared and respect for each other was notably absent, David Whittier backed up his win from the previous week with a solid runnerup finish, while Richard Spaulding brought his No. 36 entry home in third. Jonathan Emerson and Josh Childs rounded out the top five.

Scott Alexander of Newburg held off a hard-charging Evan Armington to claim the hotly-contested Modified tussle. Armington, of Lovell, fresh off his first win last Saturday, made a valiant run outside of Alexander mid-race but settled back in for runnerup honors. Armington is the grandson of Maine Motorsports Hall of Fame member Steve Blood, and is a cousin to 2014 PASS Champion DJ Shaw.

Point leader Ryan Robbins of Dixfield edged closer to the 2015 class title with his third-place finish, while recent feature winner Matty Sanborn and Windham’s Jim Emerson completed the top five.

Cam Childs, the third generation young hotshoe from Leeds, earned his 11 victory of 2015 in the Bandit feature. Childs is doing everything possible to overtake point leader Shaun Hinkley, yet his rival finished second once again Saturday evening. Jacob Hall put in a solid effort to earn third, while Dan Wade and T.J. Devlin rounded out the top five.

Beech Ridge Motor Speedway

Reid Lanpher of Manchester earned his third Pro Series victory of the season Saturday night in Beech Ridge Motor Speedway’s NASCAR Whelen All American Series program. Lanpher, of Manchester, regained the point lead by a scant five markers over Garrett Hall with just three races remaining.

Nick Cusack led the feature until just nine laps remained, battling side-by-side with Michael Fowler in one of the season’s most intense battles. Lanpher powered by on the outside like a madman, yet in full control of his well-tuned Scott’s Recreation/Mission Trailers Chevrolet.

Hall is keeping Lanpher on his toes in this epic title bout, finishing second Saturday night ahead of the ever-talented Corey Bubar.

Cusack came home fourth, while defending Pro Series champion Dave Farrington Jr. of Jay completed the top five.

Wiscasset Speedway

St. Clair, of Liberty, held off Wiscasset veteran Chuck Colby to prevail, while Andrew McLaughlin of Harrington finished third. Puncin St. Clair and Will Collins rounded out the top five.

For much of this season, the Hewins family of Leeds has set the standard in Strictly Street action. This week, it was Kyle leading his uncle Kurt to the checkered flag, with Peru’s Dan Brown keeping his consistent 2015 campaign alive in third. Chandler Harrison (Freeport) and Guy Childs (Sabattus) completed the top five.

Mark Lucas outgunned Nick Reno to claim the Modified tilt, with Freeport’s Jariet Harrison settling for third. Speedway owner Richard Jordan of Kingfield had a little fun at the facility he and wife Vanessa have turned to gold, wheeling his way to fourth, while Ron Bryant of Livermore finished fifth.

Justin Trombley held off Shane Smith to claim this week’s 35-lap tilt for the Outlaw Mini division. Reigning champion Jimmy Childs of Leeds earned another trophy in third, while Brent Roy and Peru’s Justin Larsen finshed fourth and fifth respectively.

The NELCAR Legends were also a part of the show Saturday night at Wiscasset. Kevin Girard Jr., of Old Orchard Beach, powered his machine to victory in the 25-lap battle over Matt Bourgoin of Newport. South Portland’s Phil Brackett filled out the podium in third, while Windham strongman Matt Grant finished fourth ahead of Alan Smith.
