The Treat Memorial Library would like to thank all the volunteers and guest presenters that helped out with Summer Reading Program this year!

Our Every Hero Has a Story SRP officially ends Aug. 1st. Please turn in your reading logs by Aug. 8th. Be sure to attend our finale on Aug. 13th at 5:30 p.m. where we will recognize all of our readers and award the top reader prizes. Summer Readers are encouraged to bring in non-perishable food items for the food pantry until the end of August. Thank you for a great summer!

Get ready to pig out on reading! Joining us for our Summer Reading Program finale (Aug. 13th at 5:30 p.m.) will be Farmer Minor and Daisy, the “world’s most famous pig”. This event will be free and open to the public.

Farmer Minor, Daisy, and pugs Lily Pug and Dixie Cup travel around the country celebrating their love of libraries and pig books. Farmer Minor and Daisy have been invited to the U.S. Capitol and have been seen on the “Today Show”. Daisy has been awarded four “keys to cities” and owns thousands of library cards from across the U.S. Farmer Minor will tell the story of Daisy’s early years and how the two pugs became part of the family. Join us to celebrate a love of reading and find out why Daisy is “some pig”!

Summer Reading is winding down, but Preschool Story Time continues on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. Join us for stories, games, music, and crafts Do you or your child have a favorite author or a theme in mind? Let staff know and we may feature it at Story Time!

The Teen Writing Group will be meeting on Tuesdays Aug. 4th and Aug. 18th at 6 p.m. All area teen writers are encouraged to attend. Each writer will receive a writing journal full of prompts to inspire the creative process. Get helpful hints, support, and encouragement from the group and from the occasional visiting writer. Get ready to tackle your writing projects in the fall!

Spring Book Club will be having its final meeting in our series of Maine authors on Aug. 20th

at 3 p.m. Please contact Assistant Director Brianna if you would like a copy of our final book up for discussion. Keep an eye out for a new book club theme in the fall!

You may have seen a new face at the Circulation Desk recently. We would like to welcome our new library assistant, Alana Knapp. Alana is a graduate of the University of Maine at Farmington and has a background in art. Say hello the next time you stop by the library. We are very happy to have her join our staff!
