JAY — The newly formed Recreation Committee consisting of former and new members will hold an organizational meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, at the Town Office.
The group will be tasked to develop a plan for the French Falls Recreation Area and overall recreational goals for the town.
Selectpersons entered into a 40-year lease for $1 per year with Androscoggin Land Trust for the French Falls area in May. The land previously was owned by Verso Paper Corp.
Several ideas have emerged for the 10-acre property, including a gazebo and a dog park, Town Manager Shiloh LaFreniere previously said.
There is a ball field at French Falls. The property abuts the Whistle-Stop Trail that runs from West Farmington to Livermore Falls.
Members of the committee are Bob Berry, Jake Farrington, Jenny Boivin, Jill Gingras, Leann Lavoie, Rob Taylor, Randy Easter, Pearl Cook, Debbie Breton and Cindy Bennett.
Board of Selectpersons Chairperson Justin Merrill, Selectperson Steve McCourt and LaFreniere will participate.
