DIXFIELD — The Walker International Events Inc. Circus is returning to Dixfield on Friday, July 31, at Mountain View Campground on Route 142 to offer an array of acrobats and animals to area children.

George Welch, who owns Mountain View Campground with his wife, Pauline, said the circus comes to town “every other year or so,” and it “always gets a pretty big turnout.”

The circus will set up in the campground field with shows at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.

Welch said the show is free for children; free children’s tickets can be picked up at local businesses in the River Valley.

“We don’t usually get a lot of money from holding the circus,” Welch said. “For us, it’s just about putting on a regular show and getting people to the campground. The way the tents are set up, people can rent a campsite, and take a five-minute walk to the field to attend the circus.”

The circus will be the second event at the campground this month. A music festival is set for Saturday, July 18, to help pay for damage from a break-in last year.
