1931 – 2015

WINTHROP — Elaine F. Gould, 84, of Winthrop, died on Sunday, July 5, at the Augusta Center for Health and Rehabilitation after a brief battle with cancer.

Elaine was born on Feb. 26, 1931, in Winthrop, the daughter of Ferdinand Moses and Rosanna (Langevin) Fontaine. A lifelong resident of Winthrop, she attended Winthrop schools, where she graduated as valedictorian of the Class of 1949.

She and her husband, Merle, had two sons, Ryan of Fayette, and Kerry of Auburn.

She is survived and sadly missed by her son, Ryan Gould and his wife, Kathy Lee, of Fayette; son, Kerry Gould and his wife, Deborah, of Auburn; granddaughter, Kellie Fitzgerald and her husband, Christopher, of China; granddaughter, Kristie Kosalski and her husband, Aaron, of Augusta; grandson, Adam Gould of Washington, D.C.; and grandson, Aaron Gould of Hoboken, NJ; three great-grandsons, Josiah and Justus Fitzgerald of China and Judah Kosalski of Augusta; and sisters-in-law Julia Fontaine of Augusta and Joan Fontaine of Winthrop.

She was predeceased by her husband, Merle Gould.
