1919 – 2015
MEXICO — Elizabeth “Jenny” Stoklas, 95, of Mexico passed away on Saturday, July 4, at her residence with loving family at her side, following a brief illness.
She was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Canada, on Oct. 9, 1919, a daughter of William J. and Mary Ann (Goodwin) MacDonald.
Jenny was educated in Mexico schools and was a graduate of Mexico High School, Class of 1936.
Prior to her marriage in 1941 to Joseph Stoklas, she was employed for several years at Diamond Match Co. in Dixfield.
Jenny was a devoted wife and mother.
She was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella.
Jenny loved knitting, crocheting, cooking, baking, rug-braiding, playing cribbage, Pokeno and traveling.
She also loved her many trips to Prince Edward Island, visiting family and shopping in New York City.
Surviving are her children, Maryann E. Stoklas of Bath, Thomas M. Stoklas of Brunswick, and Paul J. Stoklas and husband, Dean Nadeau, of Portland; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Coulombe of Sabattus; brother-in-law, Louis Stoklas of Jay; three grandchildren, Lisa Abbott of Las Vegas, Nev., Lauri Gowell and fiancé, Steve Mallar, of Old Orchard Beach, and Shannon Grich of Roxbury; great-grandchildren, Megan Abbott, Patrick D. Abbott and Ryanne Bacon and husband, Devon; great-great-grandchildren, Paul Dylan and Sydney Catherine; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Joseph Stoklas in 2012; three sons, James, John and Joseph Stoklas; a sister, Margaret Richard; and brothers, Harold McDonald and Wendell MacDonald.
