1923 – 2015

FARMINGTON — Yvette A. Sonier, 91, a resident of Jay, passed away Saturday, July 4, at Sandy River Center in Farmington.

She was born Sept. 24, 1923, in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of Leon Frechette and Alpha (Bibeau) Frechette. She attended school in Jay. On Sept. 18, 1944, in Jay, she married Henry “John” Sonier Jr., from Old Town. He passed away earlier this year on March 19.

Yvette worked as an assistant postmaster in Jay, retiring in 1983 after 28 years of service. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima in Jay and a former member of the Daughters of Isabella.

She is survived by her three daughters, Linda Oliver and her husband, Louis, of Turner, Carol Triba and her husband, David, of Farmington, and Nancy Adams and her husband, Vernon, of Jay; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; her brother, Napoleon “Mimi” Frechette of Jay; and her sister, Louise Lenox and her husband, Leo, of Georgia.

She was predeceased by her husband, Henry “John” Sonier Jr.; brothers, Gerard, Roger, Raymond, John, Noel and Maurice Frechette; and sister, Rita Dupill.
