East Monmouth Church Vestry to hold strawberry shortcake supper

EAST MONMOUTH — East Monmouth Church Vestry will hold its annual strawberry shortcake supper from 5-6:30 p.m. Friday, July 3, on Route 135.

Homemade salads, cole slaw, baked beans, rolls and strawberry shortcake will be served.

Cost for the meal is $8 for adults, $4 for children 12 and younger.

Maine Educational Opportunity Center holding free workshops

LEWISTON — The Maine Educational Opportunity Center will host a free workshop entitled Essentials of College Planning for adults 19 and older.

Lifetree Café to discuss ‘Upsizing Life by Downsizing Stuff’

LEWISTON — Lifetree Café will host a discussion at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 9, called “Upsizing Life by Downsizing Stuff: Living Large in an 84-Square-Foot House.”

The discussion will feature a filmed interview with Dee Williams, author of the best-selling book “The Big Tiny.”

Participants will get practical tips for getting rid of stuff and see how one woman downsized to owning less than 300 items to maximize the amount of space in her life.

Tommy’s Feral Felines holding a bottle drive

LEWISTON — Tommy’s Feral Felines will be holding a bottle drive from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, July 10 and 11, at Sports Trader located at 707 Main St.

Tommy’s Feral Felines is an all-volunteer, no-kill organization, which receives no official funding and relies solely on the donations and the income generated by its fund raising events like the bottle drive. In addition to feeding and sheltering the cats, Tommy’s provides spaying and neutering, vaccinations and other medical care to the animals, many of which are too many generations feral to be adoptable.

Tacoma Lakes Improvement Society to hold public breakfast

LITCHFIELD — The Tacoma Lakes Improvement Society is having a public breakfast from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 11, followed by a meeting for TLIS members from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Carrie Ricker School, 573 Richmond Road.

There will be a vendor dock display outside the school. The meeting will have a speaker from the Maine Warden Service, a silent auction and 50/50 rafle.

Cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger. 

Masonic Lodge to hold bean supper

DURHAM — The Masonic Lodge in Durham, Route 136 across from the River Park, will be holding a bean supper from 4:30-6 p.m. July 11.

Baked beans, chop suey, hot dogs, potato salad, coleslaw, bread, pickles and homemade pies are on the menu. Cost of admission for adults is $7.50, $3 for children, and five and younger eat free.
