Recently, Gov. Paul LePage had some choice words for my colleague, Rep. Peggy Rotundo. The governor said, “she is an architect of pork – she should be a pig farmer.”

I serve with Rep. Rotundo on the Appropriations Committee. She is a Democrat and I am a Republican.

Sometimes we find ourselves on opposite sides of issues, sometimes not. But I have served with her for five years, so I think I can speak with some authority about who she is.

Regardless of politics, Rep. Rotundo is one of the hardest working, dignified and most principled people I know. She has given up a good part of her life to represent her community.

The governor’s demeaning comments are insulting to a fine public servant.
