PORTLAND (AP) — Police have arrested a Portland man they say was selling crack cocaine close to a school.

Kerwin Lamour was arrested after a raid on a city home on Tuesday morning.

Police say the home was within 1,000 feet of an elementary school, prompting them to charge the 29-year-old Lamour with aggravated trafficking of crack cocaine.

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and city police have been investigating the sale of drugs in the area for about a month. The investigation included undercover purchases of crack.

Police say a search of the residence revealed evidence consistent with drug trafficking to include crack cocaine, marijuana, packaging materials, two handguns and ammunition.

Lamour was taken to the Cumberland County jail.
