1919 – 2015

SUMNER — Isabel Emma Farris Bedard, 95, of Sumner, died Monday, May 25, at her home. She was born in Hebron on Oct. 20, 1919, the daughter of Guy and Amy Ellingwood Farris. She married Joseph Bedard and had been employed at A. L. Stewart. She made her home on Upper Sumner Hill, where she raised her 11 children on her own after she was widowed.

Isabel enjoyed her big vegetable gardens and picking blueberries in the fields near the farm house. She enjoyed watching and identifying the birds at her many feeders. Sundays were a day of family gatherings for one of her delicious meals of beef stew or chop suey. She was a great cook who passed on her love of cooking and providing for her family. She was a strong, hardworking woman who loved her family.

She is survived by her sons, Leroy, Lenny and Johnny; her daughters, Yvonne, Pauline, Carolyn, Arlene, Shirley and Kathy; sisters, Jody and Jane; 38 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; sons, Stacy and Joseph; grandsons, Danny, Jeff, Timmy and Clifford; great-granddaughter, Annabelle; sons-in-law, Joel, Clifford and Robert; daughter-in-law, Pat; brothers, Horace and baby boy; and sisters, Elva, Iva and Joyce.
