1942 – 2015
NORWAY — Betsey Ann Lenberg, 72, died peacefully Sunday morning surrounded by her family at Central Maine Medical Center, following a brief illness.
Betsey was born Aug. 15, 1942, the daughter of the late George and Henrietta Burns of Woburn, Mass. She married her high school sweetheart, Francis “Butch” Lenberg on Aug. 25, 1961. Together, they owned and operated Betsey’s Country Store in downtown Welchville for 31 years.
Betsey’s was a place where the folks who came in weren’t just customers — they were friends. They sold the store in November 2001 and retired to their home in Norway.
Betsey loved simple things: food, a good joke; laughing; reading; watching movies and TV, especially “Judge Judy”; days spent on the beach in Ogunquit with her sister, Jean, and brother-in-law, Tom, and her friends, Beverly and Butch Olson; going out for ice cream or hot dogs with her friend, Dixie; doing laundry (if you can believe it!); and, most of all, spending time with her family, whom she loved with every ounce of her heart. Her pride and joy where her five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She will be endlessly missed by her husband, Butch; her daughter, Susan Alberi and husband, Jamie; and her son, Butchie Lenberg and wife, Kay. Betsey leaves behind her grandchildren, Matthew Conroy and wife, Kari, of O’Fallon, Mo., Sean Alberi and wife, Brittany, of Casco, Katie Lenberg and her boyfriend, Lucas Garrett, of Waterford, Christopher Alberi of Otisfield and his girlfriend, Chelsea Merritt, of Plainfield, Conn., Brian Lenberg and his girlfriend, Meryl Kelly, of Bethel; and two great-grandsons, Liam Lenberg-Courcy and Colten Conroy. Betsey is survived by her sister, Jean Maguire and her husband, Tom, of Woburn, Mass.; her brother, George Burns and his wife, Sandra, of Reading, Mass.; a sister-in-law, Martha Burns of Tewksbury, Mass.; and her best friends, Beverly Olson and Dixie MacDonald.
She was predeceased by her parents, George and Henrietta; and a brother, Bobby Burns.
