RUMFORD — The Rumford Eagles will hold its ninth annual Child Advocacy Day from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 2, Chairman Fred Allen said.

Organizations will offer information on nutrition, health, bullying and other topics related to the well-being of children. Participants include Community Dental, Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Services, Rumford Police Department, Roxbury ATV Club, Rumford Community Hospital and Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts troops.

Allen said the Mexico Police Explorers will hold a bicycle rodeo to teach children the importance of wearing a helmet. Local artist Clint Magoon will showcase his artistry and allow children to compete for prizes. The River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition will have a table on nutrition.

Allen has chaired the event the past seven years. Child Advocacy Day started around nine years ago as part of a competition held by the Fraternal Order of Eagles in United States and Canada, he said.
