CARRABASSETT VALLEY — The Board of Selectmen will host a welcome reception for Karl Strand, the new president and general manager of Sugarloaf ski resort.

The event takes place at 6 p.m. Monday, April 20, at the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center.

Strand succeeded John Diller in December.

The public is welcome to hear a brief presentation by Strand, including his vision for his new position. It will be followed by an opportunity to ask questions, Selectman John Beaupre, said.

The town and Sugarloaf have a unique partnership, Beaupre said.

“The impact of Sugarloaf is pretty far-reaching,” he said.

Strand has held leading roles at Sugarloaf and Sunday River Ski Resort in Newry for the past 10 years. Both are owned by Boyne Resorts.
