1962 – 2015
SABATTUS — Mary Lou (Ebert) Schalk of Sabattus, lately of Columbus, Ohio, died of complications from cancer on Monday, March 23, at her home in Sabattus. Mary was 52 years old.
Mary was born on July 29, 1962, to Frank and Lucille (Ruehrmund) Ebert of Cardington, Ohio. She graduated from Cardington-Lincoln High School (1980) and the Ohio State University (1985). She was married to her husband, Charles Schalk, in Columbus, Ohio, in 1986, where they lived in the Northland area until moving to Maine in 2003.
Mary was a Christian indeed, serving her Lord Jesus Christ and testifying to His saving and keeping power throughout her lifetime. Her words led many others to deeper relationships with Jesus Christ, and her works of compassion and kindness are remembered by all who were touched by her.
For all of her growing-up years, life revolved around Holsteins. Mary was a farm girl, through and through. As a mother, she was fully vested in her children’s education. Mary’s was a cheerful and welcoming face at the Lisbon Library for the years she worked there.
Mary is survived by her husband, Charles; son, Luther, daughter-in-law, Victoria; and granddaughter, Lucille, all of Maine; daughters, Meredith, Renata, Victoria and Emma, all of Maine; mother, Lucille, of Cardington, Ohio; brothers, Gary and Daniel, of Ohio; sisters, Jean, Susan and Julie, of Ohio; many nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles; and the wonderful family of God, her church family.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, Frank Ebert.
Mary will be missed by all.
