Richard Huntress swings on the playground at the former Lake Street School in Auburn on Thursday. Huntress, 80, graduated from the school in 1948 when he finished the fifth grade. He still lives in the neighborhood. Huntress said that when he was at Lake Street, the playground he is swinging on was for girls only. The boys’ playground was on the other side of the building. Huntress said he takes a walk just about every day and will often stop to sit on the swings. “It’s quiet sitting here,” he said.
