LEWISTON — The Franco Center will host weeknight classes for adults starting March 25. The class will run for a 10-week session from March to May and will be held Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The classes are intended for those who either want to learn French from scratch or who already have some proficiency with the language that they want to improve upon.
Various topics will be used as a guide to help with speaking. The pace is relaxed and class is taught in French with English explanations as needed. Material varies and participants choose from a list of possible topics. Students are asked to bring a binder or folder and something to write with to class.
The course will be taught Vanessa Stasse. Born in Sherbrooke, Quebec to Belgian parents, she has a master’s degree in anthropology from Laval University in Quebec City. Stasse has lived in Maine for the past 12 years, teaching French and yoga and interpreting in French, English and Portuguese.
Classes will take place in Heritage Hall at the Franco Center. The total cost for the 10 classes is $100, and registration can be done via telephone by calling 783-1585 or by emailing vanessa.stasse@outlook.com.
To register by mail, send contact information and payment to Franco Center, 46 Cedar St., Lewiston, ME 04240, Attn: Adult French Classes. The Franco Center requires a minimum of eight people per class session. If that threshold is not met, full refunds will be issued to those who have already registered and paid.
