WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — State police say a 19-year-old woman has died in a crash involving three vehicles on the Massachusetts Turnpike in West Springfield.

Investigators say at about 12:30 p.m. Thursday an eastbound Chevrolet Suburban struck a box truck, causing the Suburban to veer over the median barrier and into the westbound lanes of the highway, where it was struck by a tractor trailer in the high-speed lane.

The Suburban’s driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor trailer, 23-year-old Joshua Lawrence, of Peru, Maine, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the box truck was not hurt.

The victim’s name was not immediately made public. The crash remains under investigation.
