RUMFORD — National Commander Mike Helm states that the 4×4 program, the fundraising initiative is right on pace. As of Feb. 9, more than $2.4 million has been raised for American Legion charities, as well as those in the Auxiliary’s charities. Helm established a goal of $4 million in fundraising for the charities including Operation Comfort Warriors, Child Welfare Foundation, National Emergency Fund, Legacy Scholarship Fund, Endowment Fund and Soldier’s Wish. Also included are the Auxiliary charities, including the Emergency Fund, Spirit of Youth Scholarship Fund, Children of Warriors National President’s Workshop and American Legion Auxiliary Foundation

The “Warm Feet” campaign is continuing. All sizes of warm socks are needed. Thanks go to everyone for the community support in collecting these socks for homeless veterans and their families. I’l B Fit (60 Lowell St., Rumford) has generously offered to be a drop off point. They have a box set up and are ready to accept donations. Socks will be collected until the beginning of March.

The next monthly meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 1. Supper will be at 5 p.m. At that meeting, nominations will be held for officers. Voting for new officers will take place at the April monthly meeting.

Boys and Girls State information will be available soon at the high schools. It is a great opportunity for juniors who are interested. Fundraising is ongoing to send as many boys as possible. Seven delegates to Boys State were sponsored in 2014. The Auxiliary was able to send four delegates to Girls State. The cost to send a delegate is $275. Delegates can be sponsored or co-sponsored.

Sunday, March 29, Volunteer Recognition and Continuous Membership supper. Social hour and supper begins at 3 p.m. Certificates will be presented following the supper. Invitations will be sent out soon.
