1919 – 2015

LEWISTON — Rita P. Morin, 96, of 440 Minot Ave., Auburn, died Friday, Feb. 20, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston. 

Born in Lewiston on Jan. 29, 1919, she was the daughter of Leon and Eugenie Thibault Pelletier. Educated in local schools, she was employed as a fancy stitcher in several area shoe shops, including Clark and Knapp Shoes. 

On June 15, 1940, she married Alpha E. Morin. Mr. Morin passed away in 1996. 

Rita loved family gatherings, especially at her daughter Pauline’s camp, and she enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling with her husband. 

She was a longtime member of Holy Cross Church, Prince of Peace Parish.

She is survived by a son, Richard, and wife, Claire, of Lewiston; two daughters, Connie and husband, Bob Charest, of Lewiston, and Pauline and husband, Rene Mathieu, of Fayette; a sister, Jean D’Arc and husband, Bill Beauchesne, of Auburn; nine grandchildren, Paul and John Morin, Gary Charest, Tina Baril, Glenn Charest, Michel and David Mathieu, Steve Biron and Donna Warren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. 

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Suzanne Biron; a grandson, Donald Charest; two sisters, Ida Blais and Lillian Arsenault; and five brothers, Leo, Jerry, Jean, Real and Rosaire Pelletier.
