Ash Wednesday service in Wilton

WILTON — For the start of Lent, an Ash Wednesday service and light meal will take place Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the Wilton Congregational Church.

A light meal begins at 5:30 p.m. followed by a service of ashes and prayer in the sanctuary at 6:15 p.m.

All are welcome.

FARMINGTON — An Ash Wednesday service will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church on Academy Street.

Jazz service is now set for March 1

FARMINGTON — The jazz service at Fairbanks Union Church has been postponed until Sunday, March 1, at 10 a.m.

Originally scheduled for Feb. 15, it was canceled due to the expected storm.

The South Strong Road Crew will play throughout the service, and other musicians will entertain as well.

Daughters of Isabella conduct business

JAY — On Feb. 11 the Daughters of Isabella 677 from St. Rose of Lima gathered for their monthly business meeting.

Draping of the Charter was held for deceased daughter Irene Therrien.

A thank-you card was received from Joan Lauzier. Sympathy cards were sent to Doris Simoneau, Gail Dube, family of Irene Therrien, Helen Hobbs and Doris Ouellette. Get-well cards were sent to Peggy Jacques and Jackie Dostie Smith.

The Daughters bean supper will be held on March 7; anyone wishing to donate an item to the raffle table should bring it to the parish hall on that day.

Stations of the Cross will be on Feb. 20. Anyone wishing to say a reading is asked to call Laurieanne Castonguay. The meeting will begin at 2:45 p.m., with readings starting at 3. The time has been changed.

The Daughters will assist with Mass on April 19. Anyone wishing to join should contact Gina Labbe or Kim Couture.

Art Journal Playshop is Feb. 21

KINGFIELD — An Art Journal Playshop will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at the High Peaks Artisan Guild Gallery, 245 Main St.

The event will be conducted by Cindy Taylor Clark. No art experience is needed.

Learn the basics, including painting and collage techniques.

The cost is $25 for this introductory class, plus $5 supply fee. Art journal is included.

Kids’ winter craft festival, fair

NORWAY — Maine Foothills Artisan Co-op will hold a kids’ winter craft festival and craft fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at First Universalist Church, 479 Main St.

Local artisans, craftsmen and musicians will be featured.

Children will have the opportunity to complete a winter-themed craft to take home.

Face painting, hot dogs, popcorn and beverage will be available for sale.
