WAYNE — A community dinner, auction and music will benefit Heather Black, 24 and a lifelong Wayne resident. The dinner and silent auction will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Ladd Center.

A buffet of hearty, homemade soups, chowders and chili with homemade breads and dessert will be offered for $8  for adults, $5 for kids and $20 for a family of four. “To go” will be available.

There will also be a silent auction and music.

To donate an auction item, call Holly Stevenson at 685-9005. For other questions, call Cindy Kenny at 685-9576.

For tickets, call the Wayne Church, 685-3505, Holly, 685-9005; or Cindy, 685-9576.

Black is a strong, courageous, young woman who has been diagnosed with an extremely aggressive type of cancer. Her cancer is hard to treat so she is travelling to Boston for eight weeks of chemotherapy, surgery and more chemotherapy. She will need a month of daily radiation at the end of the treatment plan.

Her parents, Amy and Greg of Gingerbread Farm Perennials, along with the greater Wayne community, appreciate any and all support for Heather.

Anyone who cannot attend the event who would like to help with Heather’s expenses may make a check payable to Wayne Community Church, noted “Heather,” and mail to PO Box 300, Wayne ME 04284, where a fund has been established and all proceeds are sent to Heather.

There is also a Go Fund Me site, www.gofundme.com/kq425k.
