ROCKLAND (AP) — A Rockport man charged in connection with a deadly hit-and-run in Rockland last week has been held on $20,000 bail.
Jeremy Stone made his initial court appearance Wednesday on charges including driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident and improper use of license plates.
Police allege Stone’s Jeep struck 35-year-old Daniel Cormier from behind on Friday night and then Stone drove away from the area. Cormier was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Two people walking with Cormier were not hurt.
Stone told police that he did not know what he struck and left the scene because he panicked. He also said weather made visibility poor.
