Family Fun Day at Mt. Blue Park

WELD — Mount Blue State Park will host a Winter Family Fun Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7.

Events will include cross-country skiing, sliding, snowshoeing, ice skating, tote sled rides, hayrides, nature walks and a warming hut. Lunch is provided. Ski and snowshoe trailer will be on site for free equipment loans.

Admission is $1.50 for ages 12-64; all others free.

Socrates Cafe topic: Climate change

WATERFORD — Socrates Cafe will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, at the Waterford Library.

Valentine’s workshops at Resource Depot

FARMINGTON — Everyone’s Resource Depot invites children and adults to make valentines at workshops that will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Feb. 9-13.

A variety of materials will be available: yarn and trim, card stock and envelopes, sequins, small beads, odd bits of lace, pretty ribbons and printed wallpapers and wrapping paper. Many sample valentines and valentine projects will be on display to stimulate creative imaginations. All ages are welcome. A small fee will be charged to cover materials and instruction.

ERD is located in the Education Center (Room 9) on the UMF campus at the corner of High and Lincoln streets. It is open to the public during business hours: Monday through Friday from 3 to 5 p.m. and Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon. For more information, call 778-7150.

‘Passport to Casablanca’ is dinner theme

EAST WILTON — The next Passport dinner at Wilson Grange will take diners to Morrocco, with a Passport to Casablanca, at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13.

A variety of foods eaten in this north African country will be served, followed by a showing of “Casablanca,” the famous Humphrey Bogart film, in the hall upstairs.

A vegetarian option is always available.

Lewiston Bridge Club winners

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners on Jan. 20 were as follows: first/second tie, Paul Sherman and Mike True with Debra Gardner and Les Buzzell; third, Marta Clements and Hazel Glazier.

Winners on Jan. 26 were: first, Jan and Vern Arey; second, Marta Clements and Pete Cummings; third, Debra Gardner and Paul Clement.

No games were played due to the Jan. 19 holiday and the Jan. 27 snowstorm.

Games are played every Monday and Tuesday at 9 a.m. in the Seniors Room at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. A partner is always guaranteed and all bridge players are welcomed. Call Rosemarie Goodwin at 754-1431 for more information.
