Class on nutrition, lead poisoning

Learn how to cook and shop healthy on a budget. Also learn how to protect your family from lead poisoning.

ARK cancels dinner, plans classes

LEWISTON — The ARK Squad spaghetti dinner set for Thursday, Feb. 6, has been canceled.

A cooking class with ARK chef Matt Blake will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9. The topic will be “ARK Specials,” letting attendees in on dishes they love so much. The plant-based cuisine is for your good health. There is no fee and registration is not required.

Weekly Bible study class will take place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11. All are invited.

Ladies Auxiliary plans monthly dinners

GRAY — The Ladies Auxiliary will hold monthly dinners from 5 to 6 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month starting Saturday, Feb. 7, at American Legion Post 86, Route 100.

The all-you-can-eat meal includes beans, hot dogs, coleslaw, bread and chop suey.

Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12.

Knights’ takeout bean supper is Feb. 7

LEWISTON — By popular demand the Holy Cross Knights of Columbus will continue with another “take-out supper.” Last month sold out, so come early to place an order.

Members will fill orders from 3 to 5:30 p.m. There will be beans, coleslaw, buns, red hot dogs, ham and bologna. Items can be purchased as a package or single a la carte with a variety of prices to meet everyone’s budget.

The next supper will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Holy Cross church hall on Lisbon Street.

Orders support the Knights’ works of charity.

Royal River Riders pancake breakfast

NEW GLOUCESTER — The Royal River Riders Snowmobile Club will hold its annual pancake breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at the New Gloucester Fire Department, 611 Lewiston Road.

The menu includes bacon, sausage, eggs, home fries, beans, pancakes, milk, juice, coffee, tea and hot chocolate.

Cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children under 10.

Snowmobiles will not be allowed due to this year’s location.

Pancake breakfast at St. Philip’s

AUBURN — A pancake breakfast breakfast will take place from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, at St. Philip’s Church, Route 4, across from Lake Auburn.

Menu includes sausage patties, fruit cup, orange juice, milk and coffee or tea.

Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for ages 6 to 12 and free for 5 and under.

The public is invited.

The meal is hosted by family groups of the church.

Piano and potluck at Ricker Library

POLAND — “Person To Person” at the Ricker Memorial Library on Route 26 is offering a free program on Sunday, Feb. 8.

At 5:30 there will be a potluck supper, so bring your favorite type of food along to share.

At 6:30 Ulla Hanson and her piano students will entertain and then there will be a sing-along to round out the hour.

Lewiston Bridge Club winners

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners on Jan. 20 were as follows: first/second tie, Paul Sherman and Mike True with Debra Gardner and Les Buzzell; third, Marta Clements and Hazel Glazier.

Winners on Jan. 26 were: first, Jan and Vern Arey; second, Marta Clements and Pete Cummings; third, Debra Gardner and Paul Clement.

No games were played due to the Jan. 19 holiday and the Jan. 27 snowstorm.

Pinochle, pitch players welcome

LEWISTON — Pinochle and pitch card games for seniors are played weekly during the summer at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave.

New players are always welcome. Pitch is played at 1 p.m. on Tuesdays. Pinochle is at 1 p.m. on Thursdays. Refresher courses are available in both categories.

League play started the first week in September.

The armory is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday. You must become a member to play.

Knights plan bean, casserole supper

SABATTUS — The Knights of Columbus of the Our Lady of the Rosary Parish will sponsor a baked beans and casserole supper from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Maxwell-Gill Hall, adjacent to Our Lady of the Rosary, 131 High St.

Proceeds will benefit parish programs.

Contributions for the complete supper including desserts and beverages are $8 for adults, $4 for children under 12.
