LEWISTON — The Franco Center will once again host weeknight classes for adults starting Wednesday, Jan. 7. The class will run for an eight-week session from January to March and will be held from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. Wednesdays.
They are intended for those who either want to learn French from scratch or who already have some proficiency with the language that they want to improve upon. Adult classes will be held at the Franco Center.
Varied topics will be used as a guide to help with speaking. The pace is relaxed and class will be taught in both French and English. Materials vary and participants will choose from a list of possible topics. Bring a binder or folder to the first class.
Teaching the course will be Vanessa Stasse. Born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, from Belgian parents, she has a master’s degree in anthropology from Laval University in Quebec City and has lived in Maine for the past 12 years, teaching French and yoga and interpreting in French, English and Portuguese.
Classes will take place in Heritage Hall at the Franco Center. The cost for the eight classes is $80, and registration may be done by calling 783-1585 or by emailing Kirsten Nunery at knunery@francocenter.org.
To register by mail, send contact information and payment to Franco Center, 46 Cedar St., Lewiston, ME 04240 Attn: Adult French Classes.
The Franco Center requires a minimum of eight people per class session and if that threshold is not met, full refunds will be issued to those who have already registered and paid.
