LEWISTON — “The Room at Trinity” also known as “The RAT” is a monthly concert series sponsored by Trinity Church that brings an eclectic and high-quality selection of music to the inner city of Lewiston. The concerts are held on the second Saturdays from September through April. Each evening begins with a poetry reading followed by a concert.

The next “RAT” concert is set for Saturday, Dec. 13, and will feature Shanti and Buck Curran of Arborea. Their mystical folk music is very much at home in the beautiful surroundings and vivid acoustics of Trinity Church. Since 2005, this Maine-based wife-and-husband folk duo have released five albums, curated two artist compilations, and performed throughout the U.S., U.K., and Europe.

The opening poet will be

. With the recent publication of his first collection of poems, “A Heart on Fire, Poems from the Flames,” Weiss has publicly taken on the mantle of “poet” after writing poetry for almost 50 years.

Weiss earned his Master of Theology and Ph.D. in Pastoral Psychology degrees from Boston University. After closing his practice of 35 years in 2011 as a licensed marriage and family therapist in Massachusetts and Maine, Weiss is devoting his life to writing and poetry. He leads workshops for new poets, offers retreats on “Poetry as a Spiritual Practice” and gives presentations such as “The Poetry of Eastern and Western Mystics.”
