FARMINGTON — Bruce J. Ramey, 94, died Sunday, April 23, at the Sandy River Center in Farmington. He was formerly of the Andover Road in Rumford Center.

Born in Maplewood, Nova Scotia, on July 24, 1922, he was a son of Perley and Lola (Jordan) Ramey. He was a graduate of Stephens High School, Class of 1941. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II from 1942 to 1946. Bruce worked for the Rumford School Department as a custodian and bus driver until his retirement in 1983.

Bruce loved the outdoors, especially camping, gardening, fishing and hunting. He was a former Grange member and volunteer firefighter for Rumford Center for many years. For many years, he served as the area Santa Claus.

Bruce was married in Rumford on Sept. 22, 1946, to Alice Louise Bartlett, who died in Farmington on Nov. 5, 2016.

Survivors include a daughter, Sheryl Titcomb and husband, Rodney, of Farmington; two sons, Delbert Ramey of Caribou, and Glenn Ramey and his wife, Jeannette, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; sisters, Shirley Swett of Mexico, Virginia Perkins of Rumford, and Joanne Kelcourse and her husband, Tim, of Mexico; seven grandchildren, Eric Titcomb, Heather Draper, Rebecca Rife, Kathleen Cyr, Kristina Priest, Matthew Ramey, and Elizabeth Frisbee; great-grandchildren, Kiele and Amira Rife, Nova and Luke Cyr, and Cameron and Katelynn Frisbee.

He was predeceased by his wife, Alice, great-granddaughter, Caitriana Rife, sisters, Annie Ramey, Wilma Delano, Sadie Brown, Phyllis Leadbetter Sr. and Sandra Ramey; and a brother, Perley Ramey.
