ANDOVER — Andover Congregational Church is hosting its annual Election Day supper for hunters and other residents at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, resident Shirley York said Monday.
York said the church has been hosting a supper on Election Day “for about 10 years,” and that “all proceeds go toward the church’s general fund.
“We do it every year on Nov. 4 because hunting season is usually just beginning, and we figure that hunters may want to get out of the woods, go vote and then have a nice supper,” York said. “People have really grown to like it over the years.”
The entrance fee is $8 for adults, and $4 for children younger than 10.
The supper will consist of baked beans, hot dogs, macaroni and cheese and a variety of beverages and desserts, all cooked and provided by members of the Andover Congregational Church.
York said that anyone who wears orange to the supper will be entered to win a homemade quilt she knitted.
“I make a quilt every year for the supper that people can win as a door prize,” said York, who also runs her own quilting business, Blue Moose Quilting.
