PORTLAND (AP) — Maine’s season for hunting deer with bows and arrows is set to begin this week.
The archery season begins on Thursday and runs until Halloween. Hunters are allowed to harvest bucks throughout the state during the season. Hunters may only take antlerless deer in parts of the state that recognize “any deer” permits. The “any deer” permit itself is not required during the archery season. Hunters possessing a “bonus deer” permit can use it during the archery season.
The season for hunting deer with firearms runs from Nov. 3 to Nov. 29.
