Would you support expanding the state’s Medicaid program, MaineCare? Why or why not?

Yes. I would support expanding Medicaid to cover close to 70,000 individuals. No one should lose their homes and livelihood because they get sick or injured. It will also boost Maine’s economy and strengthen our hospitals and clinics.

Should Maine follow the city of Portland’s lead and legalize the possession of limited amounts of marijuana for adults over the age of 21? Why or why not?

No. I have concerns about the effect that marijuana may have on individuals who may have underlying psychiatric illness.

Should the state of Maine continue to provide incentives for businesses and homeowners to convert or diversify energy sources to those considered renewable, like solar, wind and geothermal?

Yes. The state should continue to invest in renewable energy sources. It will save Mainers money and will create jobs.

Maine’s minimum wage is $7.50 an hour. As a state lawmaker would you support increasing that minimum wage? If so, what should Maine’s minimum wage be?

Yes. I would support increasing the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour. I would consider a possible exemption for workers who receive tips, such as restaurant waitstaff.

What issue is the most important to voters in your legislative district?

Increasing property taxes and unfair school funding formula, withdrawal of Freeport from RSU 5, health insurance coverage, partisan bickering in Augusta and Washington, D.C. Voters want legislators to work together to get things done.

What about you makes you the man or woman for the job?

I am the woman for the job because I have proven that I am a strong public servant. I have stood up for my constituents and voiced their concerns. I have passed over 20 bills and I have helped individuals find answers to their problems.
