BIDDEFORD — The Maine fire marshal’s office said an apartment building fire in Biddeford that injured two people was intentionally set.

Two young men were rescued from a third floor apartment early Thursday morning.

Maine State Police said they remained hospitalized Thursday afternoon with one in critical condition.

Six other people were treated at the hospital and released.

The fire marshal’s office said the fire was set in the rear stairwell of the building.

The state police plan to help with the investigation.
