SIMPSONVILLE, S.C.— Leo Legere, 86, a resident of Piedmont, S.C., formerly of Jay, died on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at McCall Hospice Care in Simpsonville, S.C.
He was born on Aug. 20, 1928, in Chisholm, the son of Albany Legere and Madeline (Richard) Legere. He attended Jay High School and later went into the United States Air Force for 20 years. He served during the Korean and Vietnam wars.
He married Norma Lewis on Nov. 27, 1954, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay.
Leo loved being on the computer and flying airplanes and gliders. He also enjoyed traveling to Maine in the summer.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Norma (Lewis) Legere of Piedmont, S.C.; his three sons, Duane L. Legere and his wife, Sharon, of Cuba, Kevin A. Legere and companion, Walter Sumner, of South Carolina, Brent J. Legere and his wife, Theresa, of Maryland; his three daughters; Sandra Legere of Maryland, Robyn Marie Legere of Maryland, and Traci A. Bouis of West Virginia.; brothers, Eddy Legere and wife, Theresa, of Orono, Norman Legere of Livermore Falls, Louis and wife, Patricia, of California, Richard Legere and wife, Doris, of Texas, Fidele Legere and wife, Patricia, of Indiana and Daniel Legere and wife, Ruth, of Tennessee; sisters, Eva Davanport of Tennessee, and Julie Smith and husband, Maurice, of Jay.
