NORWAY — Children in grades 1-6 are invited to register for the third season of the Children’s Musical Theatre Workshop. Registration for the free workshop will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, in the music room of the Second Congregational Church, UCC.

From late October through early March, workshops will be held each Wednesday from 3:15 to 4:30 P.M. at the church.

Thanks to the continued support of the church, there is no cost for attendance. But as in previous years, parents will be asked to provide weekly after-school snacks and production assistance for participants. Children and their families will also need to be dedicated to the production and faithful in attendance.

For the first six weeks of the workshop, the children will learn both the music for their March production and the music for their performance in the 15th annual December Christmastide Concert. After the Christmas break, they will investigate the process of show production and stage performance as they prepare to present their March musical extravaganza to the community.

Shirli Allen-Heald of Norway and production assistant Kate Wood of Otisfield are excited to continue this popular program and are looking forward to helping develop the youngsters’ talents as they learn how to become performers and supporters of the arts.

Allen, local performer, music director of the Second Congregational Church, and owner/ teacher at The Growing Place Day School, stated, “I am very excited to continue this project. Children from Woodstock, Paris, Norway, Oxford and Otisfield performed last year. ‘BeBop With Aesop’ was a very successful. This year’s group will be enhanced with the confidence of returning children and the energy of new members.”
