Charity golf tourney
Maine Oxy will hold its second annual charity golf tournament at Prospect Hill Golf Course in Auburn on Saturday, Sept. 6.
The company continues its commitment to community service and helping raise funds for special needs groups right here in our state. This is the company’s fourth year with Make-A-Wish Maine named its charity of choice. Last year the company raised $7,500 at the golf tournament, thanks to entry fees, hole sponsorships from businesses and raffle tickets sold at the event.
This year the company supplements the prize offering with the addition $15,000 cash prize for a hole-in-one for a par 3, a state-wide raffle for a 55-inch LCD flat screen television, near-pin contest, door prizes, and 50/50 raffle among other offerings. With these additions and the growing interest in the charity tournament in the greater Lewiston/Auburn area, Maine Oxy has set a goal of $12,000, nearly double that of last year.
Tom Peaco, Executive Director of Make-A-Wish Maine said, “The need has never been greater, we’re seeing record referrals this year and events like this golf tournament are important in supporting our goal to help every eligible child in Maine.”
Adam Dunbar of the Make-A-Wish Board of Directors said, “Maine Oxy has provided a great example for other companies to follow. They have rallied their employees and vendors together around a common cause and in the process have helped change the lives of kids in the communities they serve.”
