LIVERMORE FALLS — The Regional School Unit 73 board filled nearly all professional and support staff openings Thursday night.
Among the were Spanish teachers Charles Stratton, four-fifths at Spruce Mountain Middle School and one-fifth at Spruce Mountain High School; and Matthew Giustra, full-time at Spruce Mountain High School.
The board accepted the resignation of high school Spanish teacher Carlos Ochoa.
Also for the Jay high school, Courtney Flagg was hired as the READ 180 teacher and Charlene Roussel was approved as guidance counselor.
At Livermore Elementary School, Karen McDonald was hired as a fifth-grade teacher and Kelly Lake as a fourth-grade teacher.
Mary Ross was hired as a special services educational technician at Livermore Elementary School and Karly Wilkins as the Jay Elementary School library technician.
For the Spruce Mountain Adult and Community Education program, former board member Kathryn McAninch was hired as a secretary for 20 hours a week, and Tammy Gordon for office support for 30 hours a week.
Adult Education Director Eileen Miazga said the listing of academic and enrichment courses will be in the mail to all households in RSU 73 next week.
Middle school Principal Scott Albert said the school needs three soccer coaches.
“If we have no coaches, no program,” he said.

Superintendent Kenneth Healey said there are vacancies for educational technicians and bus drivers.
Open houses for several schools were announced. Livermore Elementary School Principal Kevin Harrington said the school will be open at 5:30 p.m. Sept 9, the same time and day as the open house at Jay Elementary School.
The middle school open house will be at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 10. Meetings for parents to learn the guidelines for students taking school-issued computers home are scheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 3 and 8.
Classes begin Sept. 2 for all students. Healey said he plans to greet students at schools during the first three days.
“It’s important for students to see who I am,” he said.
The board approved revised handbooks for students and parents of Livermore and Jay elementary schools. Board member Shari Ouellette voted against the move, saying the two handbooks are different from each other.
