The annual Franco-American heritage festival, which was canceled earlier this year by organizers citing a lack of financial support, has been revived as a one-day fund-raiser in September, according to an organizer. The switch to a one-day celebration of Franco-American culture is the latest chapter in the festival’s long but mottled history. Le Festival Franco de Lewiston et Auburn, traditionally a three-day event at Kennedy Park, will be scaled down and held at the Multi-Purpose Center on Birch Street instead, Michel Patry, publicity chairman for the organizing committee, said Sunday. The “mini-festival” will be held Sept. 30 and will combine three French-Canadian meals, arts and crafts exhibitions and dancing to Franco-American music by live bands at night, Patry said.
