WILTON — The Wilton CareerCenter will offer programs in July for people looking to make a change in careers or get a new job.
“By taking advantage of the no-charge workshops at our CareerCenters, job seekers can improve their chances at landing the position they want,” Gov. Paul R. LePage said. “CareerCenters can teach you not only how to improve your resume, but also show you new places to look for jobs and connect you with HR managers who provide the inside scoop on what employers are looking for in candidates.”
GATEway to Employment: Wednesdays, July 2 and 16, 9 a.m. to noon. It offers an overview of basic information on resumes, interviews and job search skills, as well as CareerCenter and community resources available during a job search.
Vocational Rehabilitation Orientation: Thursday, July 3, 9 a.m. to noon. It is for people with disabilities who are considering vocational rehabilitation services. Registration is not required.
Essentials of College Planning for Adults: Thursday, July 24, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This covers learning about college and trade schools, entrance requirements, readiness and transitional issues of adult students, admissions procedures and financial aid. Review a typical admissions application, request admissions materials and financial aid information from prospective colleges and complete the financial aid form. To register, call 1-800-281-3703. Bring last year’s income tax forms to the appointment.
O’Net Ability Profiler: Call to Schedule. O’Net is a career exploration tool that helps individuals plan work livelihoods using a paper and pencil format with optional apparatus parts and computerized scoring. Results can be used to identify strengths for which more training/education is needed and to identify occupations that fit an individual’s strengths. This workshop requires five or more participants.
Community College Adviser: Discuss college options and explore college choices based on interests and career goals. Call Randy Berry at 207-740-0112 or email him at rberry@cmcc.edu for an appointment.
