SUMNER — The Congregational Church of East Sumner is hosting several events and is in need of community support.
Organizers can use 16-ounce frosting containers with lids for takeout containers for their bean suppers. They can be dropped off at the church at 50 Main St. (Route 219), and left on the back deck if no one is there.
Church members will be co-sponsoring a public supper with the Town of Sumner at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 24, to benefit the Sumner Food Bank, which is hosted by the church. Needed are donations of casseroles and desserts as well as raffle items. Items can be dropped off at the Hartford Sumner School cafeteria between 3:30 and 5p.m., but let organizers know beforehand what is being donated. Contact Cynthia Norton, Sumner, at 388-2667 or Norton@megalink.net.
The second annual “Barn” Sale will be held in the church yard on Sept. 27. Anyone cleaning out their barn/attic/garage and looking for a worthy organization to donate to is asked to consider the church and contact Linda Glass at 388-2263. Limited space will be available for local crafters.
