PARIS — A Rumford man arrested in March on a child pornography charge is set to appear in court next month.
Jeremy Vashaw, 41, of Somerset Street in Rumford, is scheduled to appear in Oxford County Superior Court on July 8 in a hearing to amend bail conditions.
Vashaw is charged with one count of dissemination of sexually explicit material of persons under the age of 12, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. He is out of prison on $1,000 cash bail.
According to an undated court document, Vashaw was granted supervised contact with family members under the age of 18 during family gatherings and may seek employment where incidental contact with minors may occur.
He was denied access to the Internet except for the sole purpose of checking his bank account and paying online bills.
Members of the State Police Computer Crimes Unit seized Vashaw’s computer in December, which police say contained hundreds of images of children under the age of 12.
A Rumford resident and member of the Finance Committee, Vashaw was fired from his job as a banquet server at Sunday River Ski Resort when his employer learned of the arrest.
A police affidavit had not yet been submitted to the court clerk.
Vashaw has no prior criminal convictions.
