VFW Auxiliary plans pie sale

HARRISON — The Harrison VFW Ladies Auxiliary 9328 will be selling their delicious homemade pies in front of the Harrison Village Library on Saturday, June 28, beginning at 8:30 a.m. until sold out or 12:30 p.m., whichever comes first.

Pies will be sold for $12 each and donation are also welcome.

Yard sale benefits Irish Museum

HARTFORD — A yard sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at the Hartford Town Hall. The sale will benefit the J & O Irish Museum.

PARIS — The McLaughlin Garden and Homestead at 97 Main St. will sponsor a fairy house building workshop from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 1. This activity is appropriate for children and adults. The cost is $5 per participant.

The event will include light snacks, an introduction to fairy houses and time to make a fairy house. Fairy crafts, coloring, basic supplies and special supplies for purchase will be available. Houses may be taken home on cardboard or in a small container that will be supplied, or left to decorate the Curtis House property newly acquired by the foundation.

Summer resident Carly Pearlson, assisted by her mother, is back to lead the session. A large group joined her last fall for a first-ever fairy house workshop at the McLaughlin garden.

The “enchanted month” continues at the garden on July 19 with the annual “Garden Illuminated.”

West Paris food pantry

WEST PARIS — The Neighborhood Niche Food Pantry will be open from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesdays, July 1 and 15, at West Paris Baptist Church, 15 Church St.

The pantry is open the first and third Tuesday of each month. West Paris residents are invited to come once a month.

Spurrs Corner food pantry hours

OTISFIELD — The food pantry at Spurrs Corner Church, Route 121, will be open Tuesdays, July 1 and 15, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Chicken barbecue on July 5

LOCKE MILLS — Jackson-Silver Legion Post 68 and Greenwood Fire Dept. Association will hold a chicken barbecue on Saturday, July 5, from 3 to 6 p.m. or until sold out. It will be held at the Legion Post, 595 Gore Road.

The meal includes half a chicken, beans or potato salad, roll, drink and assorted desserts for $10; under age 12, $5.

Eat in air-conditioned comfort or take out to a shade tree.

Community supper July 5 in Sumner

SUMNER — A community supper will be held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, July 5, at the Congregational Church of East Sumner, 50 Main St.

There will be casseroles, salad, dessert and raffle items. Donations for the meal are requested.

Patriotic musical at West Paris Baptist

WEST PARIS — A patriotic musical that puts special emphasis on those who have served the country will be presented at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 5, at the West Paris Baptist Church on Church Street.

Members of the American Legion will join the choir as well as other members of the community for this presentation of “God Bless the USA.”

The concert is free. All veterans and service people are especially invited.
