FARMINGTON — There will be two graduations for Mt. Blue High School seniors.
One will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 6, at Mt. Blue High School for seniors who plan to participate in the state track meet Saturday, June 7.
The regular graduation will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 7, at the campus.
The state track meet and the regular planned graduation fall on the same day.
The graduation committee, track coaches, school administration, and Class of 2014 officers have worked diligently to find a solution to this situation, according to a press release.
After many meetings and brainstorming, it was decided that changing the date of graduation was not possible for many reasons. Track seniors expressed their sadness in having to choose between two school events. A handful of these students have chosen to attend the track meet instead of graduation.
In order to give the track students a graduation, a small ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. on June 6 in the gym. Track students will be marching in together. Music will be performed by fellow seniors, and speeches will be given by Principal Monique Poulin, coach Kelley Cullenberg and a graduating senior.
Participating seniors will be receiving their diplomas and attending a small reception following the ceremony.
