BETHEL — Selectmen decided Tuesday to seek an interim town manager and hope to have that person begin by June 2.
Town Manager Jim Doar is leaving in mid-June for a new job in Montana.
Doar said Wednesday that the board asked him to set up interviews with two people in the very near future for the interim position. He said selectmen hope to have someone in place by June 2.
He added that one of the people may also be interested in applying for the permanent job.
Doar was also asked to explore the possibility of hiring an outside consultant to conduct the search for a permanent manager. By law, an interim person may serve up to 180 days, Doar said.
