BRUNSWICK (AP) — The Maine Fire Service Institute in Brunswick will receive $154,714 in federal money for training equipment.

Rep. Chellie Pingree said Thursday that the money will come from the federal Assistant to Firefighters Grant program. She said it will be used to buy fire protection suits for instructors and portable radios for certification and training exercises.

The Maine Fire Service Institute is part of Southern Maine Community College and is located at the college’s midcoast campus in Brunswick. It is a facility that trains and certifies firefighters.
