BRUNSWICK — Viola Rothschild, daughter of Norman Harry and Cheng Mei Rothschild and granddaughter of Catharine and Michael Rothschild of Phillips, has been awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to study in China for 2014-15.

She also received the Government and Legal Studies Department Prize for Excellence in Comparative Politics at Bowdoin College and attained highest honors for her senior thesis on generational attitudes in China towards the Japanese. Viola will graduate from Bowdoin College this spring.

POTSDAM, N.Y. — The following students received award from Clarkson University at the University Recognition Day ceremony during the spring semester:

Aimee E. Giffune of Turner, a sophomore majoring in chemical engineering, was presented the Vern Clute Memorial Academic Achievement Award. The award is presented to the male and female American Indian students who at the end of the first semester of their sophomore year have high academic averages.

Samantha L. Rideout of New Gloucester, a freshman majoring in business studies, was presented the Ilse J. Shaw School of Business Freshman Award. The award is given each year to a School of Business freshman who has demonstrated outstanding scholastic ability and leadership. Recipient receives a monetary award.

BILLINGS, Mont. — Aaron Bardier has completed his FAA Private Pilot Certificate at Rocky Mountain College. Aaron is the son of Sandra Landry of Lewiston and is a freshman majoring in aeronautical science at Rocky Mountain College.

The aeronautical science program includes a four-year baccalaureate degree that prepares graduates for careers as professional pilots. Bardier plans to complete his instrument rating this year, which will include training in glass cockpit aircraft, as another milestone toward his goal of flying for a regional airline in the U.S.

Bardier graduated from Lewiston High School in 2013.

NEW LONDON, N.H. — Jennifer Ricker of Durham graduated from Colby-Sawyer College on May 10 as a member of Alpha Chi National College Honor Society. Ricker majored in creative writing.

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Dr. Erin Forbes of Hanover graduated from The Atlantic Veterinary College at the University Of Prince Edward Island on May 10, following the “White Coat Ceremony” the evening before where she was awarded the American Association Of Feline Practitioners Outstanding Senior Student Award. The award is given in recognition of dedication to and excellence in the study of feline medicine and surgery.

Forbes is a daughter of Michael and Maryanne Forbes, also of Hanover. She is an alum of Gould Academy and St. Anselm’s College. She will start her career as an associate veterinarian at Mt. View Animal Hospital in Burlington, Vt., in June.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Peter Miller, son of William Miller and Elizabeth Miller of South Paris, has enrolled for 2014-15 admission at Rochester Institute of Technology.

Miller is in the electrical engineering – BS program in RIT’s Kate Gleason College of Engineering and is a 2014 graduate of Hebron Academy.

CANTON, N.Y. — Taren L. McGray of Turner was inducted into the St. Lawrence University chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership honor society. A member of the Class of 2016 at St. Lawrence, McGray is majoring in neuroscience. She graduated from Leavitt Area High School.

Omicron Delta Kappa recognizes students who are successful in academics, athletics, community and campus service, the performing arts and journalism.

LANCASTER, Pa. — Kurtis Stocker of Buckfield has made the honor’s list for Franklin & Marshall College’s fall 2013 semester.

Stocker is the child of Thomas H. Stocker and Sarah M. Stocker and is a graduate of Lewiston High School.
