Farmer’s Market opening Memorial Day
WATERFORD — The Farmer’s Market on Waterford Common will begin Monday, Memorial Day, May 26, from 2-5 p.m.
The market will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. every Monday through at least Labor Day.
Land trust to host bird walk
GREENWOOD — The Mahoosuc Land Trust will hold a bird walk from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at the Maggie Ring Nature Park.
They hope to see and hear a wide variety of warblers and other song birds.
Dress for the weather, bugs, walking and wet footing. Morning refreshments will be available.
Emily Ecker and Mary VanNest of Western Foothills Land Trust will be the guides. Meet at the trailhead off Greenwood Road.

Lewiston Bridge Club winners
LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners of the American Contract Bridge League Charity game at the Lewiston Armory on May 12 were as follows: first, Mary Trafton and Luke Merry; second/third tie, Rosemarie and Tom Goodwin with Nancy Farmer and Les Buzzell; fourth, Jeanine Kivus and David Lock; first in B & C, Cindy Kirchherr and Jim Krainin; second, Norma and Rick Verrill.
Winners of the regular game on May 13 were: first, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn; second, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe; third, Jan and Vern Arey; fourth, Jeanine Kivus and Patricia Quinn.
Games are played every Monday and Tuesday at 9 a.m. in the Seniors’ Room at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. A partner is always guaranteed and all bridge players are welcomed. Call Rosemarie at 754-1431 for more information.
Adult Ed offering summer classes
PARIS — The Oxford Hills/Buckfield Adult Education Program is offering summer classes. Academic preparation, HiSET Orientation, HiSET Preparation, and HiSET Testing, is available Wednesdays, July 2, to Aug. 20.
Tuition is $30, with a $20 book deposit. Tuition is waived for HiSET and diploma students.
Distance learning classes are also available beginning Monday, June 9, and ending Wednesday, July 30: Algebra for College, Human Biology w/Lab and College Preparation Chemistry w/Lab. Tuition cost for each course is $99, with a $10 lab fee. HiSET and diploma students pay $10 and can earn a credit.
All students must register with Guidance Counselor Katrina Webster by June 5 prior to enrolling. To make an appointment, call 743-8842, option 1.
FD Auxiliary to hold yard, plant sale
SUMNER — The Sumner Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will hold its annual Yard/Plant/Food Sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at the Sumner Fire Department, Route 219.
There will be a door prize and quilt raffle, as well as refreshments for sale.
The Auxiliary is in need of items, except for clothing. For donation information, call Wilda Dunham at 388-2981 and for donation pickup around the L/A area, call Charlotte Blier at 784-8941.
All proceeds are going toward new equipment for the Volunteer Fire Department.
