ROXBURY — The Roxbury Riders ATV Club will host its annual Lee Hodgkins Memorial Poker Run from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at the Roxbury ATV Park and Ride on Roxbury Notch Road.

The event is held in honor of former club member Gilbert “Lee” Hodgkins Jr., who died in 2005.

Club President Mike Worthley said Monday that this is the ninth year of the event. Registration opens at 8 a.m.

“The run will start at the Roxbury ATV Park and Ride, go towards Byron and Andover, and circle back around to my house,” Worthley said. “We’ll have buckets set up every two or three miles across the trail with envelopes in them. Inside each envelope are cards. When we get back to my house, everyone will open their envelopes and whoever has the best poker hand wins.”

Worthley said the club’s annual 50/50 raffle will be drawn then, too.

“We do an ongoing 50/50 raffle from Jan. 1 to Memorial Day weekend,” he said. “We always give $500 … to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The rest goes to whoever wins.”

“The least we’ve awarded to someone is $1,250, and the most we’ve ever awarded is $2,670,” Worthley said. “It’s definitely one of our bigger events.”

As of Monday, Worthley said they had raised a little over $1,000 for the raffle.
