WILTON — A Norway man was injured Friday morning when the tractor-trailer he was driving went off Route 133 and rolled onto its side.
Donald Lovell, 48, was operating a truck for Tibbetts Trucking of Livermore, according to Wilton police officer Andrew Hardy. Lovell was able to get out of the truck on his own and complained of back pain, Hardy said.
Lovell was taken by NorthStar EMS to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, where a spokesman said he was treated and released.
The driver said a moose caused the accident, but firefighters, police and witnesses found no sign of one, Hardy said. Police said Lovell had been driving since 2 p.m. Thursday until the accident at 9:34 a.m., he said. Lovell denied that, Hardy said.
Lovell was coming from the Sappi Paper mill in Skowhegan and some rolls of paper he was hauling were on the ground, Hardy said.
The 2001 tractor-trailer was heavily damaged.
Wilton firefighters put absorbent pads and absorbent material under the cab. They also assisted ambulance personnel and directed traffic.
The Maine State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement was called to investigate, Hardy said.
