MECHANIC FALLS — RSU 16 Adult Education announces its 2014 winter/spring courses. Registration may be completed in person at 129 Elm St., or by mail: PO Box 129, Mechanic Falls, ME 04256. Registration forms may be downloaded at mechanicfalls.maineadulted.org. Credit card payments are not accepted.

ATV Safety: Learn how to properly operate and maintain an ATV. Laws and responsibilities, map and compass, environmental/landowner ethics, personal safety, first aid and survival skills will also be covered. Exam and 100 percent attendance required. Children must be at least 10 years old. Those 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult throughout the course. Saturday, May 10, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration: $7.

Boating Safety: Learn proper boating safety and operation, including handling, equipment and trailering. Laws, environmental ethics, emergencies, self-help first aid and cold-water survival will also be covered. Exam and 100 percent attendance is required. Successful completion will result in a certificate, which serves as proof of compliance if stopped by New Hampshire law enforcement when boating on boundary waters. This course meets requirements for operation of personal watercraft by 16- and 17-year-olds. Sunday, May 4, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration: $7.

Fitness for Life: Step aerobics and resistance exercises for cardio, tone, strength and overall fitness. Although all ages and abilities are welcome to attend, this class will challenge you so you should be ready to sweat. Six-week ongoing sessions, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Classes are held in the gym at Elm Street School, 129 Elm St. Registration: $25 per session or $5 per week for drop-ins.
