Historical program: maple syrup
DIXFIELD — The first spring meeting of the Dixfield Historical Society will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at the Museum House, Main Street.
A short program will be held at 7 p.m. featuring “Making Maple Syrup” with Bob Withrow, Paul Jones and Larry Hodges.
Vanilla ice cream sundaes with maple syrup will be served. The public is invited.
The RSU 10 History Team is planning another picture scanning event for the Maine Memory Project sponsored by the Maine State Museum.
If anyone has old photos that can be scanned for the project, call president Donna Towle at 562-7595.
Towle is especially interested in mid-20th century Dixfield (’40s, ’50s and ’60s) but would like to see all that you have to share.
AARP chapter meets April 14
PARIS — The Oxford Hills Chapter of AARP will meet on Monday, April 14, at the First Congregational Church on East Main Street.
Lunch will be served at noon and a chicken dinner is on the menu. The cost is $6.50 and reservations are required by calling Ruth at 744-9069 by Friday, April 11.
The business meeting will begin at 12:45. Members are reminded to bring small items for shut-ins bags as well as continuing support of the Food Pantry. The book/puzzle swap is also continuing.
The program will be presented by Katie Branch, a health and wellness representative, featuring chair exercises.
Breakfast with the Easter Bunny
DIXFIELD — Dirigo High School Class of 2016 will hold a Breakfast with the Easter Bunny pancake breakfast from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, at the school.
Admission is $4. Tickets available at the door. There will be crafts, photo opportunity for $1 and Easter basket raffles for $1 per ticket.
Honey Bee Club plans workshop
PARIS — Oxford Hills Honey Bee Club’s workshop will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at the Oxford County Extension Center, 9 Olson Road.
Speaker will be former Maine State Bee Inspector, Paul Szott. Topic will be spring maintenance, and getting ready for nucs.

Center to offer Finnish classes
WEST PARIS — Finnish language classes will resume on Saturday, April 12, at the Finnish American Heritage Center, 8 Maple St.
Beginners and intermediate level classes will be offered on April 12, April 26, May 10 and May 24.
The beginners class will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The advanced classes will be from 1 to 3 p.m.
Marja Leena Bailey will be the instructor. Her method of teaching makes it productive, interesting and fun.
Cost is $95 per person and $50 for each additional household member.
